Govt seizes 6,484 oxygen cylinders in Valley



KATHMANDU: The government has seized 6,484 oxygen cylinders being used by houses and industries for other than treatment purposes in the Kathmandu Valley.

Some industries have themselves returned their cylinders while those who kept hoarding them disobeying the government order have been penalized. Their cylinders were seized.

With the increasing cases of COVID-19, the Home Ministry had urged one and all not to unnecessarily hoard oxygen cylinders except for treatment purposes.

An essential service operation and security coordination and monitoring committee under the Home Ministry had been keeping close tabs on it.

According to Joint Secretary Janak Raj Dahal, who is also the coordinator of the monitoring committee, 134 oxygen cylinders have been seized through the Ministry of Industry and 5,350 from Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur through the Nepal Police.
