JSP, NC and Maoist Center stand united to oust Oli-led govt, claims Dr Bhattarai

KATHMANDU: Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) Federal Council Chairman Dr Baburam Bhattarai has claimed to have reached an agreement between Nepali Congress, CPN (Maoist Center) and his party JSP to give an outlet to the current imbroglio.

According to a source close to Dr Bhattarai, a tripartite agreement has been reached to oust the Oli-led government and that the further discussions would be held on regarding the leadership of the next government.

“The JSP has reached an agreement with NC and Maoist Center to overthrow the Oli-led government,” said a source close to Bhattarai, adding, “Talks will be held on the leadership of the new government.”

However, there are differences on the new power-sharing within the JSP itself. Leaders of former Rastriya Janata Party (RJP) Mahantha Thakur and Rajendra Mahato are in favor of the incumbent government while Dr Bhattarai and another JSP Chairman Upendra Yadav are against the Oli-led government.

According to sources, Mahendra Yadav and Sharat Singh Bhandari from former RJP background are against the incumbent government. Political analysts say Yadav and Sing can mount pressure on Thakur and Mahato to stand united against the Oli-led government.

However, the incidents do not justify Dr Bhattarai’s claim. JSP ChairmanThakur is in constant touch with Prime Minister Oli and believes that their demands will be fulfilled by the incumbent government.

JSP has been demanding the release of Resham Chaudhary, withdrawal of cases filed against party cadres and leaders during the Madhesh movement and amendment to the Constitution.
