NRB allows BFIs to charge for inter-bank ATM transactions from Jan 14



KATHMANDU: You will be charged for withdrawing money from ATMs other than belonging to your bank from January 14.

The Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) on Thursday issued a directive allowing banks and financial institutions from charging fees for inter-bank ATM transactions.

Banks and financial institutions were not allowed to charge a fee for withdrawing money from another bank’s ATM since March when the government had enforced a lockdown to stem the spread of the coronavirus.

Customers will still be able to conduct two monthly inter-bank ATM withdrawals for free. NRB has made an arrangement to charge up to Rs 20 per transaction for more than two transactions.
