NCP divided over PM Oli’s working style: Gautam

KATHMANDU: Vice-Chairman Bamdev Gautam has said the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) has been politically divided due to the working style of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.

Delivering his views in the winter session of the National Assembly on Thursday, lawmaker Gautam said, “The NCP has been divided for no reason. As a member of the NCP Secretariat, I raised questions on the working style of the leaders so as to correct their behaviors but in vain.”

Speaking on the occasion, Gautam revealed that the Prachanda-Nepal faction did not consult him while it was registering a no-confidence motion against the prime minister.

“I had a strong faith that the intra-party feud could be resolved through the exchange of political proposals presented by two-party chairmen,” said Gautam.

He went on to say that the NCP suffered from an intra-party conflict due to Prime Minister Oli.

“The country would face a misfortune if I were forced to resign,” Lawmaker Gautam quoted the Prime Minister as saying time and again.

Oli should have tendered his resignation for the unification of the party, said Gautam.

“The Prime Minister should step down after being relegated into a minority in the party,” said he, adding, “Oli should have resigned from his post to save the communist movement.”
