NC Gen Convention: Deuba faction wins provincial leadership in 3, Poudel: 2 and Sitaula: 1

KATHMANDU: A tough competition has been witnessed between the establishment and non-establishment groups in the election held for the leadership of the Provincial Committee of the Nepali Congress.

Out of the six provinces where the election has been held, Sudurpashchim, Karnali and Bagmati have been won by Sher Bahadur Deuba faction and Gandaki and Lumbini have been won by Poudel panel.

Uddhav Thapa from the Krishna Sitaula faction has won the president in Province 1. Thapa got 844 votes and Gururaj Ghimire of the Poudel faction got 842 votes.

Similarly, in Lumbini province, Amar Singh Pun from the Poudel faction has been elected as the president. Similarly, Indra Baniya from Deuba faction has been elected as the president of Bagmati Pradesh.

Baniya got 1,085 votes while his closest rival Jagadishwar Narasingh KC got 927 votes. Bir Bahadur Balayer has been elected as the president of Sudurpashchim Province, Lalit Jung Shahi in Karnali and Shukra Raj Sharma as the president of Gandaki Province.

In Province-2, it is still unclear when the convention will be held.
