District Court grants five-day remand against 12 people including Ichcha Raj Gurung

KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu District Court has granted Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Police the permission to keep fraud and corruption accused Ichchha Raj Tamang and other 12 in five-day remand for further investigation.

The CIB had arrested 12 people, including Tamang, Keshav Lal Shrestha, the current chairman of the Civil Cooperative, on charges of fraud. The stakeholders of Civil Cooperatives had lodged complaints alleging them of fraudulent transactions.

The arrested were produced before the Kathmandu District Court by the CIB on Wednesday.

CIB spokesperson SP Shyam Mahato said that the court allowed CIB to keep the accused in custody for five days for investigation.

Dashain holiday is starting from Thursday.

However, the court has clarified that the habeas corpus writ will be heard in the meantime even though there will be 15-day-long holiday in the court starting from Ghatsthapana which falls on Thursday to Kojagrat Purnima.
