Schools in Gorkha Municipality to operate from Sept 13

GORKHA: The schools of Gorkha Municipality will open from September 13. A meeting of the Municipal Education Committee held on Sunday has decided to conduct in-person classes.

Schools have been closed for the past five months due to coronavirus pandemic. Before the meeting of the Education Committee, discussions were held with various stakeholders related to education.

The participants had recommended to conduct teaching and learning activities in the school in physical presence. Based on the same recommendation, the Municipal Education Committee has decided to open the school.

According to the Department of Education, schools with up to 250 students can conduct classes in one shift and schools with more than 250 students can conduct classes in one shift with the approval of the school management committee.

It has also been asked to submit the approved procedure to the municipality. A meeting of the District COVID-19 Management Committee held last Thursday had decided to give the right to run the school to the local unit.
