UML task force meeting underway in Singha Durbar

KATHMANDU: The task force formed to resolve the dispute in the CPN-UML has started discussions at the Prime Minister’s and Council of Ministers’ Office at Singha Durbar Tuesday afternoon.

A leader informed that the discussion was focused on contentious issues today after reviewing the past developments on Monday.

UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli faction demanded the rival faction to withdraw signatures from a petition filed at Supreme Court that seeks to make opposition leader Sher Bahadur Deuba the Prime Minister. On the other hand, Madhav Kumar Nepal faction demanded the restoration of party structures prior to May 16, 2018.

The task force had been inactive after 23 lawmakers of the Nepal faction signed the petition, and was only revived Monday.

There are 10 members in the task force — five from each faction — trying to settle the long-running dispute.
