JSP row: EC discussing with both factions today



KATHMANDU: The Election Commission (EC) is holding discussions with both factions of the Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) on Tuesday to resolve the disputes on the party authenticity.

The EC has summoned party Chairmen Upendra Yadav and Mahanta Thakur for discussion at 11 am today.

According to the provisions of the Political Parties Act, the two factions have been called for discussions in a bid to reach a consensus, according to Raj Kumar Shrestha, EC Spokesperson.

Shrestha said both the parties have been called for discussion as per sub-section 4 of section 44 of the Political Parties Act.

Thakur will be accompanied by Laxman Lal Karna, Surendra Jha and Keshav Jha.

Likewise, Yadav has decided to go to the EC along with Yadav, Federal Council Chairman Baburam Bhattarai, leader Rajendra Shrestha, Mahendra Raya Yadav and Prakash Adhikari.

Spokesperson Shrestha said the EC will take initiative for consensus.
