UML taskforce holding meeting today to thrash out intraparty feud



KATHMANDU: The taskforce formed to patch up the intra-party differences of the CPN-UML has been active again to bring the talks held among the top-notch and second rung leaders into a logical conclusion.

The taskforce meeting which lasted for one and a half hours yesterday evening ended with an agreement to resume the meeting even today.

According to Standing Committee member Bhim Rawal, the meeting held at Singha Durbar reviewed the developments taken place so far. He further said that the meeting will delve into the intraparty disputes from Tuesday.

“The taskforce decided to expedite the meeting regularly. We did not touch upon any agenda yesterday. We will seriously analyze the internal issues and take them forward from the meeting today,” said Rawal.

The environment of consensus has been created in the party after party Chair KP Sharma Oli agreed to take the party back to the status prior to May 17, 2018.

The 13th Central Cmmittee meeting of the UML had directed 23 leaders of the Nepal-Khanal faction to withdraw their signatures signed proposing Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba as the Prime Minister of Nepal.

The taskforce had become inactive following the dissolution of the House of Representatives (HoR) for the second time.

Subas Nembang, Bishnu Prasad Paudel, Pradeep Kumar Gyawali, Shankar Pokharel, Bishnu Prasad Rimal from Oli faction and Dr Bhim Rawal, Ghanashyam Bhusal, Surendra Pandey, Raghuji Pant and Gokarna Bista representing Nepal-Khanal faction are in the taskforce.
