Nepal faction not to engage in dialogue further with UML establishment

KATHMANDU: The Madhav Kumar Nepal faction of the CPN-UML has concluded that they should not engage in dialogue with party Chairman KP Sharma Oli faction unless there is a credible basis to having their demands met. They also concluded that in such a situation, it is necessary to take an alternative path for the protection of the constitution and democracy.

In a virtual meeting of central members of the Nepal faction Sunday, the Madhav Kumar Nepal faction unanimously declared that if Chairman Oli is in favor of party unity, their demands will be implemented in a credible manner within a certain timeframe and not linger as the issue has for some time in the recent past.

“We should not be involved in conspiratorial dialogue disguised for unity in a situation where the country’s major political parties are fighting legally and politically against the unconstitutional dissolution of the House of Representatives and the announcement of general elections,” a decision of the meeting read.

The Nepal faction further warned that they are forced to take an alternative path for the defense of Nepal’s constitution, party constitution, the communist movement, and democracy. They also decided to expand the organizational structures to wards and localities.

“We urge all the leaders, activists and members to remain active in building the organization in a strong and united manner instead of developing false hopes that the party could unite in absence of tangible results as Chairman Oli is constantly practicing factionalism.”
