KMC disinfecting public places in Valley

KATHMANDU: Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) is using large jet machines to disinfect public places, hospitals and security checkpoints to control the rapid spread of COVID-19.

KMC is targeting places where there is high movement of people, hospital areas, and ambulances or vehicles carrying patients. KMC Mayor Bidhya Sundar Shakya said though a prohibitory order is in place, people have to get out in an emergency or for urgent work and they were sanitizing targeted areas.

KMC also has formed a seven-member committee to build isolation centers with oxygen, keeping in mind the increasing transition rate. Mayor Shakya said the metropolis is focusing on institutional cooperation to construct large quarantine and isolation units for Covid-19 control.

KMC is coordinating with Nepal Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, and large hospitals for setting up COVID-19 dedicated facilities by making use of their resources.
