Two former Maoist lawmakers loose seat in Lumbini



KATHMANDU: The Lumbini Province Assembly (PA) has scrapped the post of two lawmakers elected from then Communist Party of (Maoist Center) on Tuesday.

On Tuesday’s Province Assembly, Speaker Purna Bahadur Gharti read out the notice that the post of Lumbini PA members Dhadhi Ram Neupane (Rupandehi) and Dinesh Panthi (Gulmi) of the Maoist Center were scrapped as per the PA regulation (192).

On April 4, the Maoist Center had notified the Lumbini PA about its action taken against two provincial lawmakers who have defected to the CPN-UML.

Lumbini PA members Dhadhi Ram Neupane (Rupandehi) and Dinesh Panthi (Gulmi) of the Maoist Center were inducted to the UML Central Committee (CC) by Prime Minister KP Oli.

Earlier, the Maoist Center had sought clarification within 24 hours from the two defecting lawmakers. The party took action after it did not hear from them even after a week, said Maoist Center Lumbini parliamentary party leader Basant Gharti.

There are total 87 lawmakers in Gandaki PA.
