Self-defense training organized for women, girls



NEPALGUNJ: A three-day self-defence training for women and girls has been launched here since Friday on the occasion of the 111th International Women’s Day.

Nepalgunj Sub-metropolitan City Main Program Committee has organized the training.

Addressing the inaugural function of the training, Senior Superintendent of Police Kiran Rana said it would be helpful in self-defense if women are physically and mentally active.

She called on the women never to think themselves as inferior to males as they are created strong persons.

Nepalgunj Sub-metropolis deputy mayor Uma Thapamagar hoped that the training would instill self-confidence among the trainee women and girls for their self-defense.

She said, although the state has made several provisions for the security, inclusion, participation of women, the implementation aspect was weak.

NGO Federation Banke president Namaskar Shah, INPROC president Tej Bikram Shah, vice-chair of Health and Education Development Center, Ganesh Prasad Bhattarai, among the speakers spoke on the need of women empowerment for achieving development, equality and prosperity. RSS
