48 immunization centres for elderly citizens in Baitadi

KATHMANDU: The COVID-19 vaccine is to be administered to citizens above 65 years of age from tomorrow.

Accordingly, the senior citizens in five local levels of the district will receive the first doze of the vaccine starting tomorrow.

For the purpose, a total of 48 vaccination centers have been established in every ward of the five local levels, said Chief of Health Office, Baitedi Yogesh Prasad Bhatta.

Those coming to receive the vaccine should come with an identity card that validates their age.

Though there are 10 local level units in the district, the vaccination is taking place in only four of them.

The vaccination will be carried out only in the local levels that have a physician in place, said Bhatta.

Hence, the immunization campaign will take place in Dasarathchand, Patan, Purchaudi, Melauli municipalities and in Dogadakedar rural municipality. A medical team led by a physician is deemed essential to address any post-vaccination complications.

There is a stock of 13,000 dozes of the COVID-19 vaccine in the district, the Health Office said.

Earlier, 2,700 including frontline workers were vaccinated in the first phase and journalists, security persons and people’s representatives in the second phase were vaccinated. RSS
