Former RPP Chair Thapa boycotts Lingden’s swearing-in ceremony

KATHMANDU: Outgoing Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Chairman Kamal Thapa has ‘boycotted’ the swearing-in ceremony of newly elected office bearers and central members including Rajendra Lingden.

Lingden was elected RPP chairman by the party’s Unity General Convention on Sunday.

Thapa was absent from the certificate distribution and swearing-in ceremony of the newly elected office bearers and central members at the Royal Academy in Kamaladi till this news was prepared.

“Former Chairman Kamal Thapa was also informed about the program. But, he has not come,” RPP leader and advocate Sujit KC said, “It seems he will not come.”

Thapa, who was outraged that former king Gyanendra Shah had played a role in Lingden’s victory, did not participate in the program.

Although Thapa was absent, the rest of the outgoing chairmen Pashupati Shamsher Rana and Dr. Prakash Chandra Lohani attended the program.
