Dil Kumari bags prize of 1,000 US dollar for rural farming



KATHMANDU: Dil Kumari Rokamagar has been enlisted among 10 women working in rural areas of the world for 2021.

She has been involved in the commercial farming of mushrooms at Tinau Rural Municipality-3 of Palpa district.

Born in Thawang Rural Municipality of Rolpa district, Dil Kumari has started commercial mushroom farming in Palpa.

She got a prize of 1,000 US dollars. The Women World Summit Foundation (WWSF), Geneva presents the prize every year.

Dil Kumari said, “I had never thought that I would get such a big achievement from mushroom cultivation. I am very happy to be selected for such an international prize.”

She has been selected as a courageous and leading creative woman. The WWSF every year honors 10 women across the world working in rural areas. The prize would be presented to Dil Kumari on October 15, the International Day of Rural Women.

Involved in commercial mushroom farming for the past decade, Dil Kumari said, “To bag international-level award is the huge success in my life. It has added enthusiasm to my business. It has also evaluated hard work and struggle.”
