NC holds ward convention in 38 districts

KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress has held ward level convention in 38 districts. The ward level convention is going on as part of the 14th general convention of the party slated from November 25 to 29 in the central level.

The party has published the name list of its active members in 56 districts. Most of the districts held the convention, forging consensus. With this, new ward committee and area representatives have been elected.

Central election committee coordinator Mahadev Prasad Yadav informed that the ward conventions were held in 35 districts on Friday and in Jhapa and Mustang districts on Saturday and in Dang on Sunday.

The ward convention is scheduled to be held in Sunsari, Nuwakot, Dhading, Chitwan, Lalitpur, Palpa, Baglung, Nawalpur, Salyan, Mugu and Baitadi districts on Monday, while Gulmi, Rolpa, Pyuthan, Kalikot and Darchula are holding the ward convention on Tuesday and Rukum Purba and Rukum Paschim on Wednesday.

The party office has shared the information that the name list of the active members of the party in 21 districts would be made public gradually. The rural municipal and municipal bodies will have the conventions on September 12. The election committee has demanded the party provide the name list of voters before five days of the convention.

However, coordinator Yadav said it would take time in case of Dolpa and Rasuwa due to geographical difficulty. Efforts are underway to mobilize election officers immediately in 21 districts where the name list of active members is yet to be released.
