Nepal loses 2-1 to India in friendly match played in Kathmandu

KATHMANDU: Nepal has lost in a friendly match between Nepal and India.

Nepal lost the second friendly match 2-1 at Dasharath Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Captain Sunil Chhetri and Farooq Chaudhary scored for India’s victory. For Nepal, Tej Tamang returned a goal in reply.

In a very competitive game, Nepali players got good opportunities but could not score a goal. Even though the first half ended in a draw, India was back in rhythm in the second half.

Farooq Chaudhary scored a goal to give India a 1-0 lead in the 61st minute of the match. Similarly, in the 80th minute, the captain of the Indian team Sunil Chhetri doubled India’s lead by scoring a goal.

Tej Tamang scored a consolation goal for Nepal in the 86th minute. Nepal lost 2-1.

Earlier, the match hosted by Nepal on September 2,  had ended in 1-1 draw.
