NC CWC’s validity expires after September 8: Senior leader Poudel

KATHMANDU: Senior Nepali Congress (NC) leader Ram Chandra Poudel has said that the party’s existing Central Working Committee (CWC)’s validity would expire on September 8.

He added the NC committees from ward to central level would be void after September 8 as the party statute stipulates holding the general convention within five years and six months.

Earlier, top leaders of the Poudel faction held a meeting at former General Secretary Prakash Man Singh’s residence in Chaksibari Thursday.

Briefing the media after the meeting, senior leader Poudel said they held discussions on convening a special convention in order to retain the party’s legitimacy.

Leader Poudel, General Secretary Dr. Shashank Koirala, former General Secretary Singh, Central Member Arjun Narasingh KC, Dr. Minendra Rijal and Bal Bahadur KC were among other leaders attending the meeting.

The active membership dispute in the party is casting doubts over the 14th General Convention being held on time.
