NC to resolve active membership dispute by mid-July



KATHMANDU: With the agreement on the criteria of the active memberships, the Active Membership Investigation Committee of the Nepali Congress (NC) has started looking into the case in the disputed districts.

The panel formed to look into the case has started its work since Sunday.

Committee member Pradeep Paudel said the investigation has started from Sunday after the criteria set to resolve the dispute on the active memberships was finalized on Saturday.

Paudel claimed that the 14th General Convention will not stop due to the active membership row.

“We have set the criteria in line with the guidelines suggested by the top-notch leaders of the party. We will sort out the issue in accordance with the criteria,” said Paudel.  The membership row will be sorted out by mid-July.

The ward convention of the Nepali Congress is beginning from July 27.

There are disputes on active memberships in 41 districts. Of them, investigation on membership issues in 57 constituencies of 36 districts has been over, said Paudel.

Ramesh Lekhak, Andanda Dhungana, Shyam Kumar Ghimire, Jeevan Pariyar, Pradeep Paudel, Kalyan Gurung and Yogendra Chaudhari are the members in the committee.

Leaders of disputed districts have come to the capital to get the active membership issue addressed.
