Committee formed to study enlistment of Janaki temple area as World Heritage site



KATHMANDU: Newly appointed Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Uma Shankar Aragaria has formed a committee to study the enlistment of Janakpurdham-based Janaki temple area as a World Heritage site.

Taking the first decision after assuming office as Minister, Minister Aragaria formed a committee under the coordination of Director-General of the Department of Archeology Damodar Gautam to study the inclusion of Janaki temple area in the World Heritage list.

The committee will study and submit a report with necessary recommendations, according to the secretariat of Minister Aragaria.

Minister Argariya emphasized the need to protect, enhance and promote the Janaki temple area by enlisting it as a World Heritage site.
