Most rural municipalities in Humla have asymptomatic coronavirus infection cases

HUMLA: Asymptomatic cases of coronavirus infection have been found in most of the rural municipalities in the Humla district. These cases have been detected amidst the second wave of COVID-19.

Although coronavirus infection is confirmed in these people through the antigen tests, they show no symptoms of the disease even during the 10 days’ duration of their stay in isolation.

A majority of the infected people in the district are asymptomatic, said Tasi Aangju Lama, a doctor at the Humla District Hospital.

Lama said the people staying in isolation after testing positive for the coronavirus infection show no signs of infection during the isolation period.

Antigen tests carried out on 1,200 people at seven rural municipalities of the district confirmed the infection in 175 people. Among those infected, 124 didn’t show any symptoms, he added. Six of the infected needed to be given oxygen while only 15 showed symptoms like general cough and cold and fever, Lama added.
