Nepal COVID-19: Active cases cross 59,000-mark

KATHMANDU: The number of active cases of COVID-19 has crossed 59,000-mark in the Himalayan country Nepal.

The number of active cases soared after the number of infection cases outnumbered those who recovered in the last few days.

According to the data maintained by the Ministry of Health and Population, the number of action cases reached 59,798 as of Tuesday.

The number of active cases was 54,041 until Monday.

As many as 55 COVID-19 patients have reportedly succumbed to the coronavirus pandemic in the last 24 hours.

According to the Ministry, the new deaths have taken the country’s death toll to 3,417 as of Tuesday afternoon.

Meanwhile, Nepal recorded a total of 7,660 new cases of coronavirus infection in the past 24 hours.

A total of 7,587 persons tested positive for COVID-19 through the RT-PCR method while 73 tested positive through the Antigen method.

According to the Ministry, 2,779 persons in Kathmandu, 601 in Lalitpur, and 513 in Bhaktapur have tested positive for the pandemic virus.

Meanwhile, 1,775 persons have returned home after complete health recovery from COVID-19.
