Manakamana cable car service to shut for six days

KATHMANDU: Manakamana cable car service will remain closed for six days starting coming Wednesday as part of its up-gradation, said the cable car management committee.

The up-gradation takes place in three phases.

In the first phase, bull wheels and other equipment would be repaired or replaced and infrastructures would be prepared to make the station technology-friendly in the second phase, said Ujjwal Sherchan, Deputy General Manager of the Manakamana Darshan Pvt Ltd.

Likewise, in the third phase, the service would be run through digital technology from analog technology earlier.

Established 23 years ago, the cable car station is located in Manakamana in the Gorkha district. People visiting the famous Manakamana Temple use cable cars to reach and worship at the temple.
