Flash floods kill 50 in Indonesia and Timor Leste

JAKARTA: At least 50 people have died after flash floods and landslides hit Indonesia and Timor Leste on Sunday.

Downpour took a heavy toll on the country, with flood water from overflowing dams submerging thousands of homes on the islands, international media reported.

The affected area stretched from Flores island in eastern Indonesia to the neighboring nation of Timor Leste.

Rescuers are still searching survivors while officials warned the death toll could rise further.
