Dev takes place thru proper utilization of water, forest, land: Prachanda



CHITWAN: Chairperson of the CPN (Maoist Centre) Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said that development would take place through the proper utilization of water, forest and land.

Infrastructural development through the proper use of the natural resources would help pave the way to the journey of prosperity of the district, he said at an event organized here today by Bharatpur Metropolitan City to lay the foundation stone for a walkway and other infrastructures along the Narayani river.

“Narayani, Rapti, Riu rivers, the Chitwan National Park and religious tourist destinations that are based in Chitwan are good tools for development of the district.” These tourist destinations have also been a model for a national level economic development and they would attract domestic and foreign tourists, he said.

Development of the Narayani river through the sea-beach model would play an important role in the utilization of tourism, beauty and water resources of the area, the former Prime Minister expressed the hope.

He stressed the need for developing tourist destinations of the area like Sentosa in Singapore.
Stating that Chitwan has been a centre of politics of the country, he said the district would be developed so people across the country throng here for further studies.

On the occasion, the Metropolis Mayor Renu Dahal said that a detailed study report has been prepared for the development of touristic infrastructures in the area. It requires approximately Rs 290 million for the project, he said.

The metropolis is at work to develop the river banks as a model tourist area, he said.
