SC verdict on writ against ex-PM duo Nepal and Bhattarai on Nov 1



KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court is set to give its verdict on Lalita Niwas land grab case filed against former Prime Minister duo Madhav Kumar Nepal and Dr. Baburam Bhattarai on November 1.

A division bench of Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher Rana and Justice Nahakul Subedi concluded hearing on the case Monday and said the final verdict would be announced on November 1. The bench also ordered the debate note of both parties in the case.

Senior Advocate Bal Krisha Neupane had filed the writ against fomer PM duo Nepal and Bhattarai at the apex court alleging that the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) granted amnesty to them in spite of their role in transferring the Baluwatar land into the names of various individuals.

The CIAA had filed cases against many individuals at the Special Court for their involvement in the Baluwatar land scam.

The anti-grant body has been under fire for its alleged role in granting amnesty to Nepal and Bhattarai despite their involvement in the government land case.
