UML to hold 10th Gen Convention in Butwal on Nov 26-28

KATHMANDU: The opposition CPN (UML) on Sunday concluded its first statute convention with the commitment to advance the country’s campaign for transformation and prosperity by taking people’s fresh mandate.

The statute convention has also decided to make party’s activities more dynamic and robust for the upcoming elections. Likewise, the UML has decided to organize its 10th general convention in Butwal from 26-29 November.

Concluding the party’s first statute convention in Sunrise Conference Centre in Godavari, Lalitpur, party chairman KP Sharma Oli announced that the UML’s upcoming 10th general convention would be held in Butwal of Lumbini Province.

The UML from its first statute convention passed the political, organizational and statute amendment reports unanimously. Similarly, the statute convention also formed a 14-member central election commission under the chair of Dr Bijay Subba.

The statute convention has criticized the ordinance relating to the political parties claiming it was unveiled to cause split in the UML.
Likewise, the UML has appealed to its former cadres, who have abandoned the UML, to rejoin the party to materialize the UML’s campaign for ‘Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali’.

Earlier, the team leaders formed in the statute convention to discuss the overall issues suggested that the party should practice internal democracy while selecting the leadership in the general convention.

Furthermore, some of the team leaders also provided their recommendation for the constitutional provision of directly-elected executive prime minister while some others called for seeking new options in the existing electoral system arguing that the current electoral system was too expensive.
