TU to retain part-time teachers with one year in service in contract

KATHMANDU: Tribhuvan University, the oldest and largest university Nepal has agreed to recruit the part-time teachers who have completed one year in service on contract.

In an attempt to address the demands of the agitating part time teachers, the three member negotiating team formed under the coordination of Professor Bishnu Khanal, TU agreed on Wednesday to retain the part-time teachers on regular contract provided they have completed one year in service.

The part-time teachers were in agitation since long demanding the government to conduct the exam for the post of lecturers only after granting them the status of the teachers in contract.

In the past, during NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba’s previous premiership, 1,420 part-time teachers had succeeded to get the status of contract teachers.
