UML Chair seeks 48-hour clarification from Sudurpaschim PP leader

KATHMANDU: CPN-UML Chairperson KP Sharma Oli has sought a 48-hour clarification from the party’s Sudurpaschim parliamentary party (PP) leader Prakash Bahadur Shah.

He sought an explanation Friday as to why the party has maintained its support to the government led by Chief Minister Trilochan Bhatta against the decision taken by the Standing Committee.

A meeting of the UML Standing Committee chaired by PM Oli on May 24 decided to withdraw its support to Maoist Center-led government in Sudurpaschim Province and instructed the ministers to resign.

But, Sudurpaschim UML PP dominated by a majority of Madhav Kumar Nepal faction of the party did not withdraw support.

As political developments unraveled, three UML ministers resigned and interestingly, five UML Provincial Assembly (PA) members were inducted into the provincial cabinet as ministers and four as state ministers.

UML PP leader Shah repeated as minister.
