President issues seven ordinances on govt recommendation

KATHMANDU: President Bidya Devi Bhandari has issued seven ordinances on the recommendation of the government Tuesday.

The ordinances have been issued in accordance with Article 114 (1) of the constitution.

According to a notice issued by the President’s Office, ordinances have been issued amending some laws related to sexual violence, Constitutional Council, criminal offenses and criminal procedure.

The government had brought ordinance related to the Constitutional Council last December as well and, based on it, had appointed officials in various constitutional commissions, including the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority, Election Commission and National Human Rights Commission.

The government’s December move had drawn criticisms from various leaders, civil society and international human rights organizations.
