Deuba, Prachanda held telephone talks last evening

Talked about developments in Lumbini and PM's move to seek vote of confidence

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba and CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ held talks over the telephone Monday evening.

The two discussed recent development in Lumbini Province, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s recent move to seek a vote of confidence in the parliament on May 10 and strategy regarding their next move in the 20 minutes talks.

The two were scheduled to meet after NC office-bearers’ meeting Monday afternoon but as the NC meeting could not take place they decided to converse over the telephone.

Prachana urged Deuba to stand as alternative of PM Oli by engaging in talks with other parliamentary forces, to which Deuba said he would discuss the proposal at NC office-bearers’ meeting Tuesday.

Meanwhile, it is learnt that Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) Chairman Upendra Yadav is also in touch with Deuba. JSP Chair Yadav reportedly has 19 lawmakers with him.

Yadav also suggested that Deuba, Prachanda and senior UML leader Madhav Kumar Nepal must hold talks before May 10 and devise a concrete plan.
