KATHMANDU: Kuwait’s Pro Licensed coach Abdullah Almutairi has been appointed as the head coach of the Nepali national football team.

The All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) Sunday appointed Abdullah, who is also an AFC coaching instructor, as the head coach.

ANFA has appointed Abdullah as its head coach for one year.

ANFA has appointed him in place of head coach Bal Gopal Maharjan who had recently given the title of Three Nations Cup to Nepal.

However, the ANFA has appointed Abdullah as its head coach after the FIFA World Cup qualifiers required a pro-licensed coach.

Now, he will watch the remaining three games of Nepal in the World Cup qualifiers and the Nepali team in the SAFF championship. Abdullah had arrived in Nepal on April 22 with the help of Qatar Football Association.

Kuwaiti coach Abdullah is an experienced coach. He has worked with Qatar’s Al Shahani Football Club U-23 and Kyrgyzstan U-17. According to ANFA, he has also worked for clubs in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait.
