Janaki Devi Ram sworn in as HoR member



KATHMANDU: CPN-UML leader Janaki Devi Ram has taken oath of office and secrecy as a lawmaker in the Federal Parliament on Sunday.

According to sources, Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota administered the oath of office and secrecy to Janaki Devi Ram of Siraha as a member of the House of Representatives. She has been made a lawmaker in the quota for the inclusive group Dalit.

Janaki Devi was sworn in to office at the Secretariat of the Federal Parliament at Singha Durbar on Sunday morning.

Earlier, Prime Minister and UML Chair KP Oli had recommended Janaki Devi’s name to the Election Commission to nominate her as an MP from the inclusive group Dalit, which was lying vacant since the death of Sanu Shiva Pahari.

In the closed list UML submitted to the Election Commission, Ram’s name was included in the quota for the inclusive group Dalits after Shiva.
