Maoist Center’s crucial SC meeting postponed

KATHMANDU: A meeting of the CPN (Maoist Center) Standing Committee called for today has been postponed.

The meeting which was scheduled to be held at the party’s central office in Paris Danda at 11 am, was likely to withdraw its support to the Prime Minister KP Oli-led government.

However, the meeting has been postponed.

According to party Standing Committee member Pampha Bhusal, the meeting had to be postponed as several of the key leaders are out of Kathmandu Valley.

Earlier, party leader Ganesh Sah had said that the meeting scheduled for today was likely to withdraw its support to the Oli-led government.

Today’s meeting was set to discuss the technical aspects of how to move the no-confidence motion against the Prime Minister, according to Sah.

According to him, Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda” was scheduled to brief the SC members about the informal understandings on government formation with the Nepali Congress and Janata Samajbadi Party in the meeting.

The Maoist party was set to withdraw its support to the government after Nepali Congress decided to seek Prime Minister Oli’s resignation on Friday.

It should be noted that Prachanda had on Saturday said the political course would take a new shape and that a new government would be formed in a few days.
