Police and smugglers open fire in Kanchanpur, Indian national shot dead



KANCHANPUR: An Indian national was killed in a shootout between police and smugglers at Belauri Municipality-7 in Kanchanpur district on Friday.

According to the District Police Office, Kanchanpur, a smuggler was shot dead by a team of the Area Police Office patrolling the border area.

An Indian national was killed when a group of smugglers opened fire on the police near the Nepal-India border.

According to DSP Amar Bahadur Thapa of the District Police Office, Kanchanpur, a group of four smugglers opened fire on the police.

Similarly, a policeman was slightly injured during the shootout, he added.
