It is projected that around 300 foreign climbers will be able to climb Mt. Everest in the coming spring. However, no one has obtained the permission so far, said Mira Acharya, Director of the Department of Tourism.

She said that it would be meaningful for the members of the royal family to come to Nepal for an expedition as it would send a positive message that Nepal is a safe mountaineering destination.

Acharya said that eight icefall doctors have already headed toward the Everest base camp.

The Department has entrusted the Everest Pollution Control Committee to pave the way to the first camp through the Khumbu icefall above the Everest base camp.
