Bibeksheel Sajha objects to CJ’s role in Wednesday’s swearing-in

Expresses concern over CJ’s ethics

KATHMANDU: Bibeksheel Sajha Party has raised concern over Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher Rana’s lead role in the swearing-in of the commissioners to various constitutional bodies at a time when a case against their appointment was sub judice in the Supreme Court.

Issuing a press release on Thursday, Bibeksheel Sajha’s spokesperson Sharad Raj Pathak has said that Chief Justice Rana’s involvement in the swearing-in of the officials to the constitutional bodies has raised ethical and moral questions against CJ Rana.

“While the case filed against the officials is under consideration in the Supreme Court itself, CJ Rana’s taking part in the oath-taking ceremony of the officials ‘unconstitutionally’ appointed has raised a moral question on the part of the Chief Justice,” spokesperson Pathak said in a statement.

“The appointment made by KP Oli-led government which has pushed the country towards instability by dissolving the House of Representatives, while the case is pending in the Supreme Court, is yet another fatal blow to the constitution.”

In the meantime, the party has urged all parties not to resort to strikes and general strikes in the name of retaliating against the government.
