RPP Chairman Thapa, leader Lingden file candidacies for the post of party Chair

KATHMANDU: Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Chairman Kamal Thapa and influential leader Rajendra Lingden have formally registered their candidature for the post of party Chair in the ongoing unity general convention of the party.

According to RPP sources, Thapa and Lingden registered their candidacies on Friday afternoon.

RPP had fixed 11.30 am to 1 pm as the time for registration of candidature.

After the registration of candidates, the RPP Election Committee will make the final list public.

Lingden is competing against Thapa in this convention.

RPP had three chairmen earlier. Among former chairmen Dr. Prakash Chandra Lohani and Pashupati Shumsher Rana have not filed candidacy this time. Dr. Lohani has openly advocated for the leadership of Lingden. Both Thapa and Lingden claim they get the support of Rana.

Interestingly, though the contesting chairmen have made their separate panels, Vice-chairman Bikram Pandey’s name is in both panels.
