KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has said the government was active in providing easy access to basic facilities like education, health, employment opportunities, participation, social security and rehabilitation for the people living with disabilities.

In a message of best wishes on the occasion of the 30th International Day of Persons with Disabilities, he pledged to pay a special attention on addressing the problems of differently-able people and marginalized communities as they, he said, had been affected the most in terms of job opportunities and survival.

He further reminded the government had decided to provide Rs 5,000 monthly to the people suffering from spinal cord injury, adding that differently-able people would get increased facilities on the basis of their condition.

May this occasion inspire government and non-governmental organizations and stakeholders work for the rights and welfare of people with disabilities, read the message.
