UML demands formation of ‘Parliamentary probe committee’ on Darchula incident

KATHMANDU: The CPN (UML) has demanded the government to form a ‘parliamentary probe committee’ to carry out an investigation into the Darchula incident.

It is said that a local Jay Singh Dhami went missing in the Mahakali river after falling from a tuin (a rope bridge) as Indian Seema Surakshya Bal cut down the rope of the tuin while Dhami was crossing the river through the same tuin on July 30.

Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota allocated time for CPN (UML) lawmaker Ganesh Singh Thagunna after UML’s lawmakers protested the Darchula incident standing at their seats soon after the beginning of today’s meeting of the House of Representatives.

The CPN (UML) demanded that a formal protest should be registered before India regarding the incident, action should be taken against the accused Indian SSB, and arrangements be made for providing compensation to the family of the deceased.

Thagunna blamed the government has been making attempts to cover up the incident, demanding action against the accused Indian SSB.
