SC meeting of Nepal-Khanal faction underway in Kalanki

KATHMANDU: The Standing Committee (SC) meeting of Madhav Kumar Nepal and Jhala Nath Khanal faction of the CPN-UML is taking place at a party palace in Kalanki.

SC members and parliamentarians close to the faction are attending the SC meeting.

According to sources, the meeting will discuss different proposals on party reorganization and expansion in the context of increasing rivalry with the establishment faction of the party.

The establishment faction recently took a decision to suspend four leaders of Nepal-Khanal faction for six months from the party.

The disgruntled faction has been regularly holding discussions concerning the faction’s future strategy. The Nepal-Khanal faction has been accusing the establishment faction of working against the nation, people and the party and in violation of party statute.

The faction yesterday announced that they would declare ‘party organization and strengthening’ campaign on Saturday.
