Lalitpur Mayor Women’s T20: APF inflicts 8-wicket defeat on Pradesh 1



KATHMANDU: The departmental team Armed Police Force (APF) has defeated Province 1 in an inaugural match of the  Lalitpur Mayor Cup Women’s Twenty20 cricket tournament held at TU Cricket Ground in Kirtipur on Saturday.

Chasing a 107-run target set by Province 1, APF achieved the target in 18 overs losing two wickets.

APF’s Sita Rana Magar top-scored with 52 runs including seven fours off 52 balls and remained not out. Similarly, Jyoti Pandey hit 32 runs including five fours off 40 balls while the other batsmen could not reach double-digit runs.

In reply, Sangita Rai and Rubina Chhetri grabbed one wicket each of APF.

Earlier, electing to bat first after losing the toss, Province 1 had set a target of 107 runs for APF losing four wickets. Rubina Chhetri and Roma Thapa scored 45 and 33 runs off 48 and 42 balls, respectively.

Rekha Rawal, Karuna Bhandari, Sita Rana Magar and Binu Budha took one wicket each of Pradesh 1.

The tournament has been organized by Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) at the financial assistance from Lalitpur Metropolitan City.

A total of five teams – the four semi-finalists of the PM Cup held in Dang two months ago and the Mayor-XI – are taking part in the Twenty20 cricket tournament, informed CAN Secretary Ashok Nath Pyakuryal.

The teams will play against each other in the round robin league and top two teams in the table will enter the final.

The tournament will be held until April 10.
