Maoist Center welcomes NC decision to form next govt under its leadership

KATHMANDU: CPN (Maoist Center) has welcomed the decision of Nepali Congress to form the next government under its leadership by outing the Oli-led government.

Reacting to the decision taken by NC, Maoist Center’s Spokesperson Narayan Kaji Shrestha said his party will provide all kinds of support to the NC for a new power-sharing.

A Standing Committee (SC) meeting to be held on Sunday will dwell on this issue and take an official decision on it, said Shrestha.

A Central Working Committee (CWC) meeting of the NC held at Sanepa reached an agreement to take the initiative to form a new government after seeking the resignation of Prime Minister KP Oli.

According to sources, top NC leaders held discussions among themselves and reached an understanding to initiate efforts to form a new government before the CWC meet convened in the evening.

Various leaders of the party had been piling pressures on the leadership to make its stance clear on power-sharing ever since the Supreme Court reinstated the House of Representatives (HoR).

The CWC meeting finally came up with the decision after holding sevel rounds of talks with senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel-led faction in the party and the leaders of the other parties represented in the federeal parliament.

Earlier, Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ had held discussions with Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba and Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) leaders on the possibility of forming a coalition government.
