Prachanda-Nepal faction assigns SC and Secretariat to initiate process of government formation

KATHMANDU: The Central Committee meeting of Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Prachanda-Nepal faction has entrusted the faction’s Standing Committee and the Secretariat to initiate the process to form the government.

The meeting of the Committee held at Peris Danda, Kathmandu on Wednesday failed to make a concrete decision despite discussing over various options for the formation of the government and finally decided to assign the task to the party’s Standing Committee and the Secretariat, NCP sources said.

The faction had approached Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba for the post of Prime Minister on February 24, the day after the Supreme Court overturned Prime Minister KP Oli’s decision to dissolve the House of Representatives.

However, NC President Deuba who had promised to inform after discussion in the party has not responded affirmatively till date.
