KATHMANDU: Senior Nepali Congress (NC) leader Ram Chandra Poudel has said that the main opposition CPN-UML Chairman KP Oli is immersed in self-praise.

Speaking at a program organized at Bhanu Municipality of his home district Tanahuh Saturday, Poudel accused Oli of being a tyrant and remarked that he was happy engaging in self-praise.

“The UML Statute General Convention is underway and Oli’s photos are all over the place. There are no pictures of Pushpa Lal Shrestha, Madan Bhandari or Manmohan Adhikari,” Poudel said, adding, “Even water bottles having pictures of leaders are being distributed. Only dictators want such self-praise and Oli is basking in self-praise.”

He also said that he began a movement against tyranny from Tanahun when Oli attempted to push the country towards totalitarianism. “We save the country from being thrown into tyrannical regime. He was trying to devour the whole of Nepal. We challenged him from Tanahun. I challenged him from Bandipur saying that such dictatorial totalitarianism would not work.”

Leader Poudel also said that the party’s ongoing convention spurred a new movement in the country. “The election has created waves of energy. The convention is making the NC stronger,” Poudel said. “The party is creating ripples all over the country. There is a wave of energy and enthusiasm.”
