41 opposition lawmakers hand over signatures to Lumbini State Chief



LUMBINI: As many as 41 lawmakers of the opposition parties in Lumbini have handed over signatures to the State Chief on Monday saying that Chief Minister Shankar Pokharel, who is in a minority, cannot remain in government.

Opposition coalition including Nepali Congress, CPN-Maoist Center and Janata Samajwadi Party met State Chief Amik Sherchan and handed over the signatures.

Lawmaker Bimala Khatri Oli, who is said to have rejoined the UML, too has signed in the petition.

The lawmakers have argued that Chief Minister Pokharel should not lead the government since he has already been in a minority and that it would be a violation of the constitution and the law.
