EC asks JSP Chair Thakur to submit copy of decision of Executive Committee

KATHMANDU: The Election Commission (EC) has demanded a copy of the decision of the Executive Committee with Chairman of the Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) Mahantha Thakur.

Thakur had sent a letter to the EC informing it about the expulsion of another Chairman Upendra Yadav from the party. However, he had not submitted the copy of the decision of the Executive Committee, said EC Spokesperson Raj Kumar Shrestha.

Chairman Yadav also sent a letter to the EC expelling another Chair Thakur, senior leader Rajendra Mahato, leaders Laxman Lal Karna and Sarvendranath Shukla from the party. Both the parties had requested EC to correct the details in the party’s registration book as per the letters submitted.

Shrestha informed that Yadav submitted the decision of Executive Committee as well.

Spokesperson Shrestha said that the EC asked both parties to submit details in the format as per Schedule 18 of the Rules related to Political Parties 2017.

Schedule 18 includes a format for filing petitions alleging manipulation of party details.
