Lawmakers accuse Lumbini CM Pokharel of forging signatures to get re-appointed

KATHMANDU: Some lawmakers have accused Lumbini Chief Minister Shankar Pokharel of misusing their signatures for his re-appointment.

Lumbini Province Assembly (PA) member Dharma Bahadur Lal Srivastava of UML said he did not support CM Pokharel. Another PA member Ajay Shahi also said the same.

Chief Minister Pokharel is re-appointed by the Chief of Lumbini Province with the signatures of both the parliamentarians. Similarly, another UML PA member Durga Narayan Pandey also announced his resignation.

Meanwhile, opposition lawmakers have claimed CM Pokharel and Chief of Province misused authority by re-appointing Pokharel.

Nepali Congress chief whip Fakhruddin Khan said the decision to re-appoint Poharel to CM’s post was extreme abuse of power even after the opposition handed over the signatures of 42 lawmakers requesting to stop the re-appointment.
